Bea Joppen is a family-run upholstery studio based in Antwerp, Belgium. Founded by Bea in 2006, the studio has grown into a collaborative workshop where she now works alongside her son Bram, daughter Fien, and a small team of skilled craftspeople. Specialising in the upholstery and restoration of significant 20th-century and contemporary design furniture, the studio combines traditional craftsmanship with a contemporary approach.

Bea founded the studio in 2006 and built it into a trusted name in upholstery. Over the years, she has mastered every aspect of the craft. Her deep appreciation for iconic furniture and her ability to restore these pieces while respecting their original character form the foundation of the studio today.

Bram Verheyen

Bram practically grew up in the studio. He later studied architecture, developing a strong interest in furniture, materials and design. In 2017, he joined the family studio, where he combines traditional upholstery skills with a particular focus on bespoke projects and new design concepts. His technical knowledge and creative approach continue to broaden the studio’s scope.

Fien Verheyen

In 2023, Bea’s daughter Fien joined the family studio after retraining as an upholsterer. Inspired by her mother’s work, she quickly made the craft her own. With a sharp eye for detail and precision, she brings a meticulous approach to every project and represents the next generation of the family atelier.

Lio Geypens

Lio is a trained upholsterer and the founder of Made.by.Pier, her own practice focused on upholstery and custom stitching. Working with Bea Joppen on a freelance basis, she brings her craftsmanship, hands-on approach and creative perspective to the atelier. Her experience with both furniture and more experimental textile projects adds another dimension to the team.
