Selected works
Inside our family atelier with Sabato. In the magazine’s Kennis van maken series, Bram Verheyen talks about twenty years of Bea Joppen, the hidden construction of design furniture, and the enduring value of upholstery and working by hand.
Upholstery for the Reworked Chair and Bench by Linde Freya Tangelder of Destroyers/Builders. Brushed aluminium, hand-lacquered cotton and white bronze come together in a collection that translates architectural fragments into furniture, with textile shaping the silhouette of each piece.
The Rock by Gerard van den Berg for Montis, reupholstered by Bea Joppen for AERA LAB. Diagonal stripes in chocolate brown, rust and cream give this vintage lounge chair a new expression, using a textile by Dieter Vander Velpen for Zinc Textile.
Custom upholstery for the conversation pit at FUNK Berchem, within an interior by NOTINLOVE STUDIO. Built into the industrial setting, the sunken seating creates a softer gathering place for coffee, conversation and shared moments.
The Seagull Chair by Gösta Berg and Sten-Erik Eriksson for Fritz Hansen, introduced in 1968. Reupholstered by Bea Joppen in warm cognac leather, bringing its distinctive wing-like silhouette and sculptural curves back into focus.
Upholstery for the Arcus Sofa by Tim Vranken, presented by Objects With Narratives. Hemp fabric from Design of the Time complements a sculptural base in solid American walnut, bringing warmth and texture to an architectural design.
Custom leather upholstery for Fuzz, a restaurant in Antwerp with an interior by Yoeran Stranger. From the upholstered benches and chairs to a bespoke leather curtain, our work brings warmth and texture to the space.
